||21||: Remedy for Overcoming Fear

Photo by Korhan Erdol

“Weary just won’t let me rest,
And fear is filling up my head,
I’m longing,
God I’m longing for You”

Kari Jobe — Find You On My Knees

I challenge myself not to resort to fear.  When fear becomes the first reaction, I look at God’s promises.  I remember the word says that “my people perish for lack of knowledge”.  We need to know what is truth so that we can ignore the counterfeit—fake news.  “you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”.  Free to do what?  To live peaceful lives, joyful lives according to God’s will and way.  So there’s no need to fear!  When you’ve done all you can and the anxiety becomes overwhelming, here is a practical action you can repeat:

Repeat the Creator’s promises

It is important when  fear creeps in to repeat words of affirmation.  To affirm one’s self with words that are true and never changing.  Immerse one’s self in loving promises by repeating them over and over out loud.  Continue the practice of repeating affirmations until they become so familiar, that they replace the other thoughts that seek to destroy your spirit and energy.  There is power through affirmations.  Why?  Because they are God’s words.  Not a fan?  I challenge you to test it and see!  It’s your choice to believe in the power of the word.

Verses to Calm Fear & Anxiety

I am loved by my Creator. Therefore if God is love, I am love.

The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.” — Psalm 118:5-9 NKJV
  • The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? —Psalm 118:6 NIV
  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
