||110||: Clearing Out for The New Year

Au revoir, Nashville.

The New Year starts with a move to my hometown in Texas. During the Fall, I started to clear out and donate items.

I documented the process of the Minimalism Game joining it with Blogtober on WordPress. I shared my experience of the Minimalism Game, as a challenge to let go of 500 items in 1 month. It took me 2 months to meet my goal. The completion of the challenge has helped the process of packing, organizing, and discarding what I no longer use

C’est la vie!

It happens, we hunt, we gather, and accumulate things. When we maintain order in the home, we help create order in our minds. I believe we are looking for wholeness, a routine that helps balance disorders that cause us disease. To attain calm in the body, we must learn to let go, take adequate rest, and make decisions daily about what we value. We can achieve this with tiny daily habits that will impact our natural flow.

The truth is…

Habitually I’m a person who doesn’t put things back where they belong. As a child, I’d take out several items, carelessly forgetting to return the items back to their home. As an adult, I continue to teach myself a new program, when you set aside just a few minutes to return items back to their home, you’ll be happy that you did. Letting go is a form of self-care, being content with who I am and what I have.

I’ve learned that the system of returning items to their home, rewards me with tranquility. Even though I’m often lazy and leave my bed unmade, I know for sure a well-made bed gives the room a tidy appearance, and crawling slowly into a bed perfectly arranged is worth it.

I can learn to live with chaos and ignore the discomfort it brings or I can decide that for a few minutes a day listening to a few tracks of my favorite album, I can clear the clutter.

To Inspire — New Habits:

  • Make the bed: Return the bed to a cozy, peaceful setting.
  • Listen & Tune into my inner thoughts: Return to my own love languages.
  • Repeat Affirmations: I am worthy of beautiful spaces. I will honor myself daily in my home.
  • Gratitude: I can give of my time, treasury, and resources to others who are in need.
